Edith was born April 3, 1873 in Cairo, Egypt. She was 11 when both her parents died in 1884. Her siblings called her Cissie and that name stuck with her for her entire life. She went to a fine arts school in Dresden, Germany, when she was 17, and became an accomplished artist, especially as a copy artist as shown above.
In 1896, Edith married Peter Francis (Frank) Gellatly and they had three children: Ruth, Edith Francis (Buddie) and Peter Edward Wettenhall Gellatly. Ruth and Buddie are pictured above, with their mother. They lived for many years in Margate, Kent, but later moved to Cricklewood northwest of London. Edith died in 1957 at the age of 84.
