Emily was the fourth child of W. Harry Rogers, born on November 10, 1857 in Wimbledon, Surrey. It was recorded in her Aunt Laura Rogers' diary in August 1877 that she went to Hong Kong, very likely to visit her sister Isa Coughtrie who was living there at the time. Her name appears in the will of her Aunt, Mary Eliza Rogers, as having received a small legacy. She was still living with the Coughtrie family in London in 1901 and 1911, and never married. She died in 1919.
